The egg men are a European Easter tradition but there isn’t really much of a story behind them. Basically people always ate the breads (such as paska, hot cross buns) and they also enjoyed eggs at Easter so why not put the two together?! The idea of having the eggs held by ‘bread-men’ came about because they needed a way to get the egg to stay on the bread so they used the mans arms to hold it!
