The Dutch are very good at celebrating. Everyone gets congratulated when its your birthday. On a special milestone of ones 50th birthday the Dutch refer to this as ‘meeting Abraham’ if you are male or ‘meeting Sarah’ if you are female. This tradition honours that a person has gained wisdom through experience. It is a huge birthday that many look forward to.
