Took my tie off, poured a tea, and reflected on the time we got to know him.
‘Mr. Van Os’ was written in the big order book when we took over from Sherbrooke Bakery back in 2006. Then already “uncle Bill” was a customer for many years, yes in all longer than I have been alive he bought his brown bread at the bakery. Its people like him that make up a neighborhood, that build a community; that make breaking bread together easy!
Brown bread, european bologna, cervelat salami, chocolate hail, and applesauce, with a side of unique humour is how we will remember him best.
And I’ll always remember his sage advice for mosquitoes: “just poke them in the eye once and they leave you alone!”
